What else we have

Big events will be coming soon! US, this is our school and the German Embroiderer’s Guild. ISTA started the first seminars for distance learning in the fall of 1998 and a little later in the year the German Embroiderer’s Guild was founded. Since then, both institutions have been working closely together and are contributing a lot to the fact that embroidery is more perceived again. In the year 2019 we also celebrate these two anniversaries together with a large exhibition at the Europa Haus in Freyung and a joint journey to textile and other beauties in the Bavarian Forest and Šumava Mountains.

After breakfast excursion with our bus over the Austrian border to the well known and very worth seeing Abbey of Melk. The Melk Abbey is one of the most beautiful single Baroque ensembles in Europe.

Visitors are awaiting excitingly designed museum rooms, prestige lounges such as Marble Hall and library, an unforgettable view of the Danube valley and the high Baroque collegiate church. The Abbey Park is ideal for a relaxing walk. In the afternoon return to Freyung. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 In the morning we leave our domicile towards Haslach at the Mühl.

The Textile Zentrum Haslach is a cooperation which is located under the common roof of a historical factory area and wants to continue telling the story of textile tradition of the Mühlviertel. As an open house, it offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and present of textile manufacturing and design processes and to gain insight into complex textile contexts in an exceptional ambience.

It is intended to be a point of contact for specialists with specific concerns and to help ensure that the rich textile knowledge and cultural heritage are not lost. At noon continue on to Krumlov in the Czech Republic-a pearl of world culture. For centuries the small town on the Vltava River has been regarded as the “pearl of Šumava”-and not only because of its unique location in a Vltava river loop. UNESCO designated 1992 the entire city as a World Heritage site: The ensemble of 300 historic houses with the Castle and Castle complex impressed every visitor right away.

opportunity to stroll around the city and return to our hotel in the late afternoon. Thursday, 23. May 2019 From breakfast, we experience another highlight of this journey: Prague. We will get to know the many sights of the Czech capital in a city tour, such as the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge and the Vitus Cathedral.

Later you will have the opportunity to visit the unique Cathedral Treasury. We leave in the afternoon the “Golden City on the Vltava River” and go back to Freyung.

Friday, 24 May 2019 This morning the beautiful “Dreiflüssestadt” (Three-River-Town) Passau is on the agenda. At first we experience the alleys and squares of the old town, the St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its organ, etc. Then at about 12 o’clock it is called “let’s go” to the Danube boat trip. Experience the most beautiful sections of the Danube in the “Upper Danube Valley”: The confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube in Passau, the smuggling at the Jochenstein power station and the picturesque landscapes to the peak of the journey-the well-known Schlögener Danube Loop. Here the Danube winds so closely around the so-called Schlögenberg that it flows exactly opposite when leaving the loop.
